Our Curriculum

Curriculum Overview

We have added our curriculum information, which includes the curriculum intent, implementation and impact of each subject on our website.

EYFS Curriculum

Children in our Nursery and Reception classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, as outlines in the new revised framework 2021.

EYFS Framework March 2021

The curriculum is designed to create learning and development opportunities which are planned around the needs and interests of each child.

The overarching principle is to recognise that every child is a unique child who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured. Working in partnership with children and their families we aim to develop independence and the ability to forge positive relationships. Our learning environments are both stimulating and challenging. They provide unlimited possibilities for children to develop explore, have fun, play, express themselves and develop into happy, confident individuals.

KS1 Curriculum

The Key Stage One curriculum begins when children start Year One and concludes at the end of Year Two. The curriculum is organised so that there are clear steps to build up knowledge and understanding in a way which is relevant, exiting and practical.

At Lumley Infant and Nursery School, the Key Stage One curriculum consolidates and builds upon learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage.  Our curriculum is based around the key skills and knowledge required to be taught as outlined in the Primary National Curriculum Framework, published by the Department for Education in 2013.
